Sheridan Solomon and Associates was founded by Steve
Solomon and Tim Sheridan in October, 1999. Today, it is
one of the leading real estate firms in Macon. A company
that started in the bonus room of Tim Sheridan’s house,
Sheridan Solomon and Associates has experienced
exponential growth. When reminiscing about the firm’s
beginnings, Steve chuckled, “I put on my tie, showed up at
Tim’s house, and said ‘let’s build a real estate company’.
Our mission at the beginning, and as it remains today, was
to build a strong independent real estate firm that is a
quality business operating beyond the numbers; taking
into account the human side.” Today, Sheridan Solomon
and Associates operates out of a 10,000 square feet facility
with 48 active Associates that Steve and Tim credit for the
firm’s success. Sheridan Solomon and Associates also
are partners with Walter Moody in MidTown Mortgage, a
mortgage company that is connected with the real estate
firm.
Steve Solomon grew up in the real estate business,
watching his father Peter Solomon as a role model and
walking land with him from time to time as a child. Then,
after earning his degree from the University of Georgia in
Economics, he went to work for his dad in sales. Steve
sold $1 million in his first calendar year, and continued
selling homes for the following six years. Then, he moved
to an Assistant Manager position, and later became a
Sales Manager. In total, Steve worked for his father’s real
estate firm, the old Sheridan, Solomon, & Kernaghan, for
17 years where he met Tim Sheridan. Similar to Steve,
Tim went to work for his uncle, Val Sheridan at the firm.
Tim Sheridan worked at the firm selling real estate for 12
years. Steve and Tim began to realize that they shared
similar expectations for the future, which was to own their
own real estate company.

Eventually, Tim and Steve leased and remodeled the
building in which they currently are located at 2618
Riverside Drive. A building that started off being three
separate buildings, has since been gutted, remodeled,
and holds approximately 40 offices. It wasn’t until 2005
that Sheridan Solomon and Associates was offered the
opportunity to purchase the building. Following the
purchase of the building, they completely remodeled the
exterior and remodeled the interior. Today, both a real
estate company and mortgage company are available in
one location.
Despite the growth that Sheridan Solomon and
Associates has experienced, they strive to remain
“everybody’s realtor.” Steve noted, “We sell houses from
$5,000 to $1,000,000+. Our average home prices tend to
be higher than other firms, but we work for everyone.” In
addition, Steve explained that, “We strive to make our
marketing plan as comprehensive as possible.” Sheridan
Solomon and Associates advertises sellers’ listings in all
of the traditional ways such as the Middle Georgia Multiple
Listing Service (MLS), Realtor.com, Macon.com, local
websites, and real estate magazines. However, they also
advertise seller’s listings in more dynamic ways including
through their 30-minute television show, “Inside Real
Estate,” and in magazines that aren’t dedicated to just real
estate, reaching out to a different, yet interested,
audience. While the Macon real estate market has
experienced a decrease in sales by approximately 20%,
as of June 2008, Sheridan Solomon and Associates
actually has experienced an increase in their market
share. This largely is attributed to the Associates hard
work, their comprehensive marketing plan, the owner’s
day-to-day involvement, as well as the community’s
confidence in the performance that Sheridan Solomon
and Associates provides to both buyers and sellers. For
