Building A Stronger Community

What makes a Pathfinder?
There are a lot of people who donate and volunteer their time, and that is commendable. There are
people in churches, schools, neighborhoods, and civic organizations that take the extra step.
However, here is what, in our eyes, defines a Pathfinder:
1. Someone who volunteers and really goes above and beyond to make a difference. All volunteers
are special, but a Pathfinder is blazing a trail and is truly inspiring. Sometimes, they are involved in
many volunteer endeavors, but it's not a requirement.
2. A Pathfinder is not someone who does these things as part of his/her paid job. For example, a local
chapter director of the United Way does indeed make a difference in the lives of people and the
community, but he/she is paid to do that. A Pathfinder goes above and beyond a paid position.
3. Each month, a Pathfinder is selected from nominations submitted by community members. If you are
seeking to nominate a Pathfinder, good places to look are churches, civic groups, and any organization
that helps people and relies on volunteers (food pantries, Christmas Angel programs, etc.).
